"And Now," cried Max, "Let The Wild Rumpus Start!"

I know it has been a long time coming, but now it is finally close! The movie version of Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak is set to be in theaters in October. Who didn't love this book as a child? Just the cover brings a smile to my face.I don't know why it is such a cult classic, but for me I think it was/is the illustrations and the places an active imagination could/can take you. The book was even used as a trial run for a nursery project seen HERE.As you can tell, this photo was taken in the VERY early brainstorming stages and we used a more colorful book, but don't be surprised if you see a version of that wall using this book in the near future...

So cute. I love Sendak. I found a giant book of his prints that he made for random Museums and Book Days, etc. I think I paid $5 for the book at a used bookstore. We framed three of the prints and have them up in our nursery. I really love them.

My favorite book and I loved when one of my friends made her son a "Wild Thing" for Halloween. A clever costume. Of course, the drawings are my favorite and the fact that it had a "Caldecott Award" always was a lure for me, that gold seal of honor!
