Quiet Time

There are no words for the sorrow and devastation I, we all, feel for the families of Sandy Hook Elementary.  Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall possess the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
-Matthew 5: 3-12

we can all do better than offering thoughts and prayers to victims. if we have the will, we can prevent the next tragedy. Guns kill. The same day as the connecticut shooting, a nutbar in china went on a rampage with a knife, wounding 22. no child died. our principals are not trained to be dirty harry-super heroes. Mothers once organized Mothers Against drunk driving and forced a social and attitudinal change. We can do that again and stop the shootings.
