Vintage- Everything Old (really) Is New Again

What better way to finish this series than looking at some vintage items? In continuation of the week's theme and the second theme, It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, I thought I would do a post to get ready for Monday night's premiere of the Rachel Zoe Project. So I rounded up some things from one of the online vintage meccas, 1st Dibs, for your viewing pleasure. I also tried to stick with a (mostly) retro theme in honor of Mrs. Zoe.....I know, you are shocked I start with grey!

Don't these look like something I should be in while drinking my morning coffee?
I LOVE this dress. I can hear men's thoughts now though and I don't think the word "love" is anywhere in them.
Would I ever wear a floor length sequined jacket? Probably not, but I bet our girl R. Z. would...

If you are going to be a vintage maven you are going to need at least one of these....

Okay now on to the part when we look at old finds belonging to yours truly. Starting with this piece I received as a Christmas present...

Haaaaaaaaaaaaa, oh I kill me! Sorry, this blog is part fantasy land for me and I just like to say things to see what it would feel like. I don't think this emerald beauty will ever be mine, I just hope whoever does buy it will love it the way I would.

Well you know I couldn't help but add some things for the home....
Seriously, how cool are these bar stools? I have a few clients looking for bar stools at the moment and I would be one happy decorator if these were to ever end up in a clients home.

This is kind of random but I love the history behind quilts. (Mom, this one is for you) For more like this one check out Gee's Bend.
Not so retro, but I still think they are "bananas".
I picture these bookcases as the unexpected element in the room. The piece that doesn't go with anything else, yet is perfect there.

"Oh this old thing....it's just my Louis Desk Trunk from 1916...." Sorry, once again I was just roll playing, you know to see what a couple, umm a few, well let's be honest- several 0's added onto to my bank balance would feel like.
If you are dying for the next season of the Rachel Zoe Project be sure to check out the countdown clips to pass the time.

Question for any grammar/etiquette/English buffs who are reading (assuming anyone is still reading)- If someone is married but still goes by their maiden name, like say oh...Rachel Zoe...is it Mrs. Zoe? I know I could just google the answer but I would love to hear from you!

*I know I have said this before but if you are one the above mentioned experts and you still read this blog- an extra special thank you since I know it must be like nails on a chalkboard to wade through crazy punctuations, etc. every day!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!!

since we are in dream land... I would like to wear the cream dress with the brown purse while I wear the emerald ring all the while doing paper work (okay bills) at the lovely desk.

Haha, please, you know if you were gramatically challenged I would find the sweetest way possible to tell you, but you're doin' great hun!
Technically speaking, in a formal matter, it could go a few ways. Women bold enough to keep their maiden name are oft times referred to as Ms. Zoe (a practice kept around from the women lib movement) Formally she would be addresses by her husband's last name on an invite (Mrs. David Smith)regardless because she is, in fact married. BUT, in these modern times Mrs. Zoe straddles the 2 categories and is the accepted practice.
On to the fun stuff! OMG, key-hole neckline and coral/organge trimming! IM IN HEAVEN!
happy friday all

I loooove those vintage dresses! And I am totally digging those vintage black barstools. I hope you talk your clients into getting them! P.S. I work as a writer/editor, and your grammar is just fine!

hmmm, i always hear "ms. zoe". it took me two years to change my name after getting married and it was weird when people called me "mrs. maiden name"

love that arm chair!

I believe it's safe to say "Ms. Zoe." I love that second outfit above with the feathered skirt - to die for! Have a great weekend!

I guess vintage is back in, these pics are great! PS-I have horrible grammar too! My dad even sent me an email regarding my poor blogging grammar. :(

Ah I die! So many wonderful choices. I have to agree with Brooke that black dress with the orange and white trim. Too beautiful for words!

That floor length sequin number? I die! I've got the DVR all set for the new season. Can't wait! And to answer your question, it should be Ms. Zoe.

I love this series, and all of the pieces you chose for this post. I also love the dress with the prints, although my boyfriend would probably agree with what you said about men not loving it.

Love that second dress. That's funny I didn't clue in that gray must be your favourite colour until you said that :)

Fun to see some fashion here!

Marianne, I love this post! Also counting down the hours until the "Zoe" starts again. The jewels you have here are timeless and I am swooning over those chairs you think are "bananas". I would also love that nice big desk although I am sure it's out of my price range.
