Weekend Project Gone Awry

I had hoped to post pictures of our weekend project which was painting the porch and fixing the side of the house. However, a torrential downpour has messed up my painted stripes so I will have to do some touching up first. Ahhhh! I know everyone loves before and afters so here are just a few pictures from a big project, our bathroom. This is what it looked like when we moved in.Notice the horrible vanity, eye sore light fixtures, ugly floor (these pictures really don't show the awfulness of it) and the textured walls (NOT in a good way).

It took a long time but we changed the vanity, scraped the walls, changed the light fixture, painted the floor (I would love to replace it but that is not in the cards right now).
I first saw the light in DWR for $2,000 and I told my husband, "I love this light and you are going to hate it but since it is $2,000 you don't have to worry about me getting it". The very next day I saw it in Z Gallerie for $300, I was destined to have it. I usually don't go for copy cats but when you have just moved into a new home the budget is tight. A few years later my husband likes it too.
Pictures on the wall are places we have been that really meant al ot to us.
I will try to get some more pictures of both the before and afters. Have a great Monday!

Beautiful! I love the painted floors. I thought it was tile! The mirror is fab as well and I love love love the artwork. I always find it so hard to find perfect artwork for a bathroom and those look great. I like that you added a little line with a description of the local.

Painted floors are a much easier (although not perfect) fix to floors. My floor is some horrible ceramic tile from who knows when. For this floor I went to Benjamin Moore and told them I wanted to paint my bathroom floor, but I wanted to pick out the specific color. I can't remember exactly what they gave me, I have looked for the can, but it is a porch paint that you can tint to match any of their colors.

I have also been looking into painting a client's kitchen floor lately and the other day when I was at Sherwin Williams they said they had a primer for ceramic and porcelain tiles they use and then they cover that with a floor paint and they too can match any color.

**Be warned, this weekend when I painted my porch I went to Lowe's (which I have vowed so many times to not buy paint from there but I did it again-this is the last time) and they gave me porch paint that was "no slip" so it is textured. Fine for my actual floor but if I had used this inside it would have been a disaster!

Double check you are getting a smooth finish!

I just used a brush along the edges and a roller for the rest. So, if you are looking to do this definitely go to Benjamin Moore or another reputable paint place and they can steer in the right direction!

Outstanding! And I wouldn't change out the floors - I LOVE them - sort of Moorish pattern to the tile - very cool.

looks like one door closed, but another one opened- your bathroom looks great! I love the sink and mirror and most of all, the personalized pictures. I am redoing my powder room right now and I love the idea of pics from places my husband and I have been to!
