In The Mood For White Curtains...

Is it because being inside for months makes me think about changing things around in my house? Or that Spring around the corner makes me want a clean palette and fresh surroundings? Not sure what it is but I am definitely wanting some big, fluffy, white curtains for my home. Actually big, white, silk curtains to be exact (which would really not fit in this home at all and is usually not my first choice). I don't know, just one of those random urges...(sorry for the bad scans) LOVE the room below...

Even on beds...
Hello dream room...
The room in the Jan/Feb Elle Decor that started this infatuation...

The good news is, if should I decide to act on this urge, you can find reasonable white curtains almost everywhere (since at the moment getting them made is not an option).
Above, Pottery Barn-LOVE LOVE LOVE the bordered roman shades beneath the panels. Below, Ballard Designs- not a pole pocket fan though.
I must say, Restoration Hardware has some of the prettiest silk curtains, in all different styles if you are going to go the store bought route.
Well you know I couldn't leave off the old BFF West Elm.
* BTW- Just a warning, West Elm does not put a liner on the back of the curtains which drives me CRAZY. Pet Peeve- driving by homes with different curtains in every window in several colors. I know that unless you getting them made the liners are not going to match, but at least they can all be similiar in color. Sorry, that is me being a picky decorator.

Photos, in order from top-First 2 pictures I am guessing Veranda but I am not 100% sure, Traditional Home March 08, first bed-Traditional Home May 07, Elle Decor, Elle Decor Jan/Feb 09, Veranda

**I started pulling out pictures long before I ever thought of doing a blog so I do not have a lot of the information I would like about pictures. If you ever recognize one and have additional information I would love to have it since I think it is unfair to not give credit where it is due.

Have a great weekend!

I'm feeling the same way lately. I think it's due to all this deary weather. I just want to brighten things up in my home. I might be doing the switch to white curtains in my living room, but I'm not sure yet!

I love when a panel has a little bit of extra fabric and it puddles a bit at the bottom. Love the look, but I'm sure it would be pain with my pups.

All the rooms you posted are so pretty. White curtains really lend such an airy, light, breezy look and feel to a room -- the perfect accompaniment to summer sunlight streaming through the windows :-)

I want summer now!!! :-)

Thanks for visiting our blog -- it's fun to "meet" new bloggers :-)

I just don't get it with curtains. Fabric on the wall always looks out of place to me, as if it's laundry hanging to dry. "Somebody fold that and put it away before company comes!"

They often make rooms look smaller, which I think is rarely something people are shooting for.

If you stare at them long enough, don't you start to wonder why the walls have sheets/fancy blankets on them? Maybe this is my problem.

(Well, maybe it's just ONE of my problems.)

I'd be curious to see a picture of what you think is the best use of curtains in any average room.

I love curtains. Definitely not in every room or every house, but I think they can add a lot to a room. First, in every home (almost) some sort of window covering is necessary for privacy, light, acoustics, etc. While in some homes I like simple blinds, I find the use of curtains make a room more warm and inviting.

I will be on the hunt for some pictures that convey good curtain usage (aside from all the ones I posted today, which in my opinion are great examples). I do see where you are coming from though.

i like the way picture no.3 has the color added to the bottom of the white curtains. i've been thinking of this for my own home somewhere. even white burlap mixed with a silk colored bottom would be a fun mix of high/low look.
