I fully intended to take many more pictures since both of the homes are wonderful with many treasures. However, for whatever reason I was lazy ( I needed it) and only came away with these pictures of his actual home....
Above is the bench that inspired my bamboo post....As you know by now I have total fireplace/mantel envy and this one is on the top of the list. You just don't find that kind of detail anymore.....
I know many of you reading this have never been to Mississippi and the only mental image you have is from the media or movies which is usually dreadful. However, there are so many gems to be discovered there, history you don't find just anywhere. So I took some pictures of just a few of the beautiful old homes in the area just to give you an idea of what you might find....
(BTW-as with most of my post pictures I had to be somewhat stealth and this time I had the Hubby driving the car so some, well most, will not be PERFECT pictures. I also would like to take this moment to thank PHS for being my partner in crime, something I know made him VERY uncomfortable).....
I love the driveway above.
I just have a thing for WHITE homes.
I hope to own an old house one day, or at least one with a lot of character. New subdivisions with the cookie cutter McMansions do nothing for me. One reason is that the trees are never even close to one below.....
Not sure the story of this house but the yellow door made me SOOO HAPPY. We will be painting our front door ASAP.
I would change the color of this house, but I dream of a porch like this....

On a side note if you are in the area you must try The Caboose in McComb for a wonderful meal.One day I will do a post on Oxford, MS, a place you must see at least once in your life. Back to the real world...booo.

What beautiful homes! I must plan a trip down south to see all of these beauties in person.
I love the bright colored door. Totally do it. I went for black on my door and it was a quick one day project that really changed the look of my home.
Painting the door is something that has been on my list forever, once it warms up I am definitely going to do it!

Oh my goodness!!! WOW just so beautfiul. I have a thing for white houses too... I've always wanted one :) Such great pictures!!!

That is a great bamboo bench and I like the rug under it, too! I have a thing for old houses, too. Mine is about 67 years old and is white ;). I love all those old homes you posted, but I think the one with the yellow door is sooo cute! I have been to Natchez and you are right, Mississippi has such beautiful old homes.
All fantastic homes. As a professional home inspector I thoroughly love my job when I get the chance to inspect a beauty like one of these. Altho I am in Minnesota, there are plenty of gorgeous homes up this way. But the south is on my list of places to go. Whether its 1200 square foot fixer upper, that someone has fix'd up flawlessly or a 10k sq/ft Mansion they all have there distinct flavor.
Oh, this made me miss Mississippi so much! There are so many beautiful and historic homes there.
And I loooove the white house with the yellow door- it is beyond charming!
Some of my fav classes in college were my Survey of Interiors courses (2 art history classes) because we had to do a photo project of architectural elements, and there were so many great houses to photography in Oxford alone!
