The Nursery, 30 Weeks-She's A Beaut Clark

Today I am 30 weeks. I am pretty sure it is best for a nursery not to look like this at this point- as in nothing has been done. What if I told you this is actually after I cleaned this room this weekend? After yesterday you are probably beginning to think I am messy, but really I promise I usually am not. Once the office moved out of the house this room became the momentary junk room and I am not going to lie, it was nice while it lasted. But now we are in our 3rd trimester and it is time to kick things into gear.So this past weekend we made a step in the right direction. Taaa daaaa, our new rocker. Taking a line from one of our favorite movies I found this chair on Craigslist and promptly e-mailed it to Patrick under the title, "She's A Beaut Clark". He did not seem to see what I saw.
However, being a good, supportive husband he drove with me an hour on Sunday to check it out and low and behold look what left (craigslist) grandma's dining room and came home with us. Initially I was not planning on buying a rocker to recover, gliders these days are so ridiculously comfortable it is hard to think about other options. But the ones I really liked were all on the (too) high end for our budget and I liked the lines, arms and tufting of this chair. Also, I am excited about getting to use our own fabric and this one is very comfortable as well.
Not that the fabric will be anything wild and crazy. Currently I am thinking a solid grey/linen something with a darker welt but we will see.....

Rockers like that are the key to comfortable middle of the night feedings. Can't wait to see it dressed in new clothes. Thanks for sharing.

I would do a slipcover after you recover it.. Babies spit-up & you need something you can wash. My daughter used to do projectile vomiting. And it went everywhere.

That will be so nice! I wanted to do the same thing and then a baby blue glider and ottoman landed in my (craigslist) lap for $40 so I couldn't justify otherwise.

What is going to happen with the light? You're not taking that fixture down are you?? I love that!!

Your nursery looks way better than mine did at 30 weeks. It's better to take your time and do it right. I scrambled at the last minute and ended up with stuff I didn't like. Now I have a 16 month old and I'm already re-decorating his nursery!

Your title CRACKED me up!! Love that movie, and can totally picture the old guy saying it while Sparky is all teary-eyed in the front yard.

Can't wait to see this 'beaut' recovered. It will be a Craigslist victory, for sure. And, like Lauren pointed out, please don't change the ceiling fixture in the baby's room! That baby is super unique and special!

The light will be moved into our guest bedroom-yeah! I love the light but I want something different for the nursery and our guest needs some serious decorating love as well.

I love the messy, junk filled 'before' shots... they only make the 'afters' that much better.

You're just keeping it real.

Rocker will be awesome in a grey linen. Can't wait to see the transformation!

with my first baby, I didn't know what I was having and decided not to do the nursery (a 6x8 room in Brooklyn!) until the baby was born. Well, I hit my due date with no signs of labor, and ended up spending the two weeks waiting for my very late baby sewing a crib skirt and window treatment and directing as my husband painted. Once she arrived, I was SO glad it was done. But the point is: you have time.

You have time! My baby is a month old & we're hoping to set up the nursery this weekend... not our plan but she was ready to arrive before mommy & daddy were ready! Despite no nursery, she's been fine! We love having her in a bassinet in our room anyway. However... I do recommend getting a closet or something ready for her before any showers - SO much stuff!!

Congrats on your 30-week milestone! Wow, time flies, although that always seems to be the case for those NOT carrying the baby! Can't wait to see the finished nursery - love the light fixture. I'm sure the finished product will be fabulous, just like you!
