I saw this desk on Copy Cat Chic, it is from Sam's Club of all places.
Just imagine all the possibilities if painted...of course you know my brain automatically goes to gray but ANY color could look good on this desk- yellow, red, blue, (I must be in a primary mood) a funky green maybe...

I think it would be cute in a kid's room "as is" too. I would never think to look at Sam's Club either!
