What I Will Be Reading This Weekend

I just received the new House Beautiful and the cover reads, "The New Look of Wood". Does that excite anyone else? There are few things I want more than really pretty wood floors and I love a good wood piece of furniture, especially limed.I can't wait to sit down this weekend and really look through but glancing at the issue yesterday I was excited to see a house from one of favorite firms McAlpine Booth & Ferrier and I loved this kitchen- the way the counters and cabinets were done in Kelley McDowell's house...

I haven't been able to put it down. I so want the featured kitchen even though ellie says they put the fireplace in the wrong spot, ha!

While not an interior decorator, I just admire beauty I appreciate how clean and beautiful it all looks.
One of my sisters just built a house where she has no carpet. The floors are all beautiful wood. Issue one is she has 3 young boys (5,3 and 14 months old). Trucks and balls anf cars and other items all drop on the floor to make dings.

Wellll, its not as great as last months cover, but you know Im partial to my blue.
I love a good wood piece, and that 1st pic makes me want to curl up and take a little nappy nap!

Ohhhh, fun. I love the look of old/limed/weathered wood next to industrial pieces and soft, white furniture.

Gorgeous interiors... wood gives a room such an "at home" feel :)

Just got it the other day and noticed the McAlpine house too. I haven't had a chance to digest it all, but House Beautiful is on the money as usual with the trends. Limed wood is quite popular and I like it. Hopefully it has some shelf life so to speak.

For some reason I always get my mags about a week to ten days late -- it drives me batty! Hopefully I'll get mine before the weekend though. :(

This was one of my least favorite issues ever, ha! I guess I'm just not a wood person. I was excited about Celerie Kemble's pics and even felt let down by those!

Just received a copy at a FABULOUS talk with House Beautiful editor at the DC Design Center, and I can NOT wait to sit down to savor every page. I wish it was on the sofa in that room curled up under the yummy throw with a glass of wine on a rainy afternoon. That sounds like a perfect afternoon. xo
