Quiet Time- A Personal Request and The B Word

I wrote the rest of this post before today but I wanted to start with a personal request. My Dad is from Chile and my entire family on my Dad's side all live there. As of this morning almost everyone has been accounted for and while there is quite a bit of damage to their personal possessions it is such a relief to know everyone is safe. But if you don't mind please say a prayer for them and the rest of the people of Chile. We are still waiting to speak to the rest of the family, hear the condition of our house down there and the details of the damage for everyone else. I am not on my computer but I did find this picture of my parents and Patrick and I at one of our favorite restaurants in Chile...
All prayers would be greatly appreciated! Now on to today's original post.....

Being an Interior Decorator usually the "B" word is Budget (just kidding...kind of), but lately it has been Balance or lack of it. My New Years resolution was to find balance and while I think I am getting better I still have a long way to go. This week I came across this verse on Darby's blog and it brought me right back where I needed to be....

Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10

Perfect image to illustrate! I need more balance in my life too. This verse is so important...it reminds me too, that I can't please everyone!

A wonderful Sunday post! I spent last June in Chile, and I pray for the people there and the fear they must have. But I also know Chile is, if nothing else, a very capable country and will overcome this (better than Haiti!!) Its funny that balance comes when we let go of how important we think we are in life, or how important we think we are to other people, and remember that our only importance in this world is to do God's purpose. happy sunday :)

Marianne,
I loved the photo with your family and I will all to happy to send a prayer that way...my husband is in Afghanistan(civilian) and every time there is another bombing, I am praying that no one we know has been claimed but also for all the people of that country.

Balance...something many, including myself strive for each and everyday. You are not alone.

I have been asking God to comfort and help the people of Chile. Now, I have your family to specifically remember.

Your Sunday inspirational blogs have been inspiring. One of these days I'm going to be in Birmingham and look you up. I would like to meet you. You have a sweet spirit.

First of all, I didn't know you had family in Chile and I'm so glad to hear they are all okay!!!

Secondly, thanks so much for this verse. I think it was posted for me directly :) It's so easy to become obsessed with my "projects", blogging, etc., that I sometimes lose sight that God has a special plan for my life and I need to put more of my daily focus on Him.

Thanks, Marianne!

Prayers to your family - I hope they and other residents of Chile make it through this difficult time. Such a perfect sentiment about balance and where our focus should be - well said!
