Quiet Time- Time Well Spent

Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; delivery them from the hand of the wicked.
Psalm 82:3-4

This week Patrick and I were lucky enough to have dinner with some wonderful people doing amazing things. I will go into more detail in another post but a dear friend of mine is hosting 4 young men in her house while they go to school. It is such a wonderful story that I will tell you the full story at another time. The reason I bring this up though is because we have been trying to figure out what we can do to help others. We want to volunteer, help people in need and serve God through our actions. We have been thinking about joining a Big Brother/Big Sister program but have not started yet. I ask that you keep us in your prayers that we have open ears and hearts so we can hear where God wants us to be.

*This verse came to me this week through an e-mail I get from Christ Notes. I highly recommend signing up for their daily e-mails. They are quick verses but a great way to start the day.

My husband Joey and I have been talking about the same thing! Please let me know what you find. I know of a few churches that have group projects that help others but I really like the idea of the Big Brother/Big Sister program. Good luck in your search and hopefully both of us find just what we are looking for :) Happy Sunday!

I really would like to do this too. I can't quite find which organization I would like to volunteer with. I hope you find one that works :)

My sister forwards these emails to me a lot. Thanks for sharing this, great post. -carlee

well we have two bubs under 3 at home, and we are about to put our names up for foster caring of another baby in short term crisis care for the gov. I really want to save all the babies (from their unfortunate parents) but I will start with one at a time!! Just waiting to see our house finished built - can't wait!

I need to sign up for those e-mails!!! I have a devotional that I like to try to read each day before work, but sometimes I am rushing so much I don't get too - so an e-mail like that would be awesome! That is the BEST way to start your day!!!

Thanks for sharing!!! That is great what your friends are doing! And I know what you mean about wanting to do something to contribute and help others but you just don't know what - I have been thinking the same thing! But you are right - God will show you what He want's you do to!!

Have a great week!! =)

This is a great and worthwhile idea...I love to see young people realize the importance of doing for others...it will bring great blessing to you as well as to the ones you help.
