If you haven't read The Alchemist, I HIGHLY recommend it. Anyone trying to find their way, in need of motivation, or trying to follow their dreams will love this book. I have read it at least 10 times and I think I am about to read it again. While it is not a spiritual book directly, it does have a spiritual presence throughout the book. Almost every page has memorable lines but I wanted to pull out some of the parts involving God.....
"The secret is here in the present. If you pay attention to the present, you can improve upon it. And, if you improve on the present, what comes later will also be better. Forget about the future, and live each day according to the teachings, confident that God loves his children. Each day, in itself, brings with it an eternity."
"The wise men understood that this natural world is only an image and a copy of paradise. The existence of this world is simply a guarantee that there exists a world that is perfect. God created the world so that, through its visible objects, men could understand his spiritual teachings and the marvels of this wisdom. That's what I mean by action."
"All people who are happy have God within them."
"Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second's encounter with God and with eternity."

I love that you do these posts every Sunday. A little dose of Jesus in the midst of our everyday (trivial) interior design lives (no offense, you know what I mean)-- Those are great quotes- so true! I've heard alot about this book and I'll definitely have to read it now!
Thanks for sharing your quiet times with us..

I will definitely add that book to my list of books to read! Hope you had a great weekend, thanks for the inspirational words!
OMG! Yes! Yes! Yes! Read it about five years ago. I've had practically my entire family read it including my 11 year old (she a bit mature for her age). They all loved it. It's a great story with a strong spiritual undercurrent. You're making me wanna read it again.
Sounds like a great one! Thanks for the rec.
I'm adding this to my reading list!
I definitely will need to pick this one up! Thanks for sharing! -carlee
I've been told to read this book and it looks like I should. Thanks for sharing. Heidi
One of my favorites. I've read it many times. Seeing this post, I may have to pick it up again tonight.
I'm adding the book to my winter reading list...when my yard work and gardening give me a break. Thanks for sharing.
Great book - I read it a few years ago and loved it, and then just recently received it as a gift! Now that the rain is about to hit us out here, I definitely plan to go through it again!
