Turning Up The Volume, Just Right

Don't you love going through old magazines? The other day I pulled out the October 2007 House Beautiful to look at one of my favorite rooms. Then I stumbled across an article on Joe Nye called "Turning Up The Volume". Lately I have been in a feminine decorating mood and completely smitten with bursts of pink. These images sum up my current mood well...For now I may have to stick to little bursts of pink...

How do you feel about pink?

It's so funny you ask that..right now I am in the midst of my living room redo.. I'm sure you've seen the post w/the blue/yellow color scheme and the blue and white china plates.... well, it seemed so boring..too put together.. SO I have been slowly adding pops of pink and I LOVE it! Today I plan on selecting a fabric for my throw pillows... and it will be pink :) I think I will post some samples actually.. :) but yes.. pink = love :)

I am definitely smitten with Pink. I think it's a cheery color that always brightens a room.

I'm extremely drawn to it these days. So much so, in fact, that we're in the middle of doing a little "freshening up" of our living & dining areas we're using pink as a main color (it will be paired with orange) in our dining room. It's a relatively small space and I'm really excited about the fun shot of color it will soon have!

LOVE! I want that bedroom in the top photo. We're re-decorating ours right now and the pops of color and white bamboo chair are perfectp.

I love using pink as an accent color...the pink of peonies or geraniums. A velvet pink ottoman or pink pillows is nice, and accenting with it is a great way to incorporate it into a space.

I love pink and I think it gets a bad rap sometimes. I am crazy about that last photo with the blue fabric on the sofa with the pink print pillows. What a great painting above the sofa!

Ok, pretty soon we're going to have to stop repeating that we are twinkies* but I have seriously been thinking about how much I love pink lately. Crazy! And better yet: pink and gray.
You heard me.

I love pops of pink! I think it's such a sweet color that it can be overpowering if you don't balance it, but there is nothing I love more than seeing a little pop of pink or fuschia in a room!

That first bedroom is absolutely gorgeous. I do love going through old design magazines. I wish I hadn't been so ruthless with my last purge! I'm going to hold onto all of them from now on - even if I have no room whatsoever!

You red my design mind. I have never, & I mean never, been a pink girl. Didn't even like putting it on my girls. But all of a sudden I dream of decorating with it, especially after the July 09 issue of House Beautiful.
I did the very same thing this wkend & unleashed all my old magazines. Made me realize more than ever the huge void that is no longer filled by the demise of so many favorites.

I tend to be drawn to more masculine furniture and pieces, so adding pink is a great way to balance everything out! And I LOVE when my husband wears pink shirts...is that odd?

Yea, not for me. Hate pink, think it is totally over-done. If I could ever figure out photoshop, I will be turning that pink hydrangea picture to white :) How ironic it's pink!

XOXO-

Just found your blog, so happy I did. The splash of pink in each picture is great. I am finding that I am using it myself as well.
