Wood Bathroom Floors, What Do You Think?

These amazing bathrooms on Velvet & Linen have me drooling for several reasons, one of which are the hardwood floors.
They are FABULOUS. So I went searching for more bathrooms with wood floors in lieu of tile....

I would have wood everyone if I could... even the bathroom! Although, I do have a thing for black-and-white tile...

I love the idea of them... these images are all so enticing, but I wonder if it's hard to keep them up in there with the threat of water. Ah, but if I could... I would still do it. So beautiful.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog!

I saw the "His" and "Hers" bathroom renovations and could not stop drooling. You don't see hardwoods in bathrooms, and the near esperesso shade gave me many ideas for our next home.

Thank you for sharing even more bathrooms with hardwoods. I wonder if they require special treatments?

I would like wall to wall hardwoods, throughout my kitchen and baths. I just really like the seamless look of it.

practical side says tile but fun side says hardwood.

That's a hard choice!

I love the idea of hard wood floors in the bathroom. It's elegant and has an old world charm to it.

My dad (who owns a flooring store) is anti-wood in the kitchen and bathrooms. He says it's not practical!

I think I like both- depending on the style of the bathroom!

I would love wood in the bath, but the idea of them ever buckling frightens me.

Oh I love both depending on the tile and the wood. But those images you pulled have me currently drooling over wood! I love the wood in the black bathroom. What an amazing pattern.

I'm in LOVE with the first two pix! YUM-O! Hardwood would definitely be warmer than tile! You have wonderful posts! I just added you to my favorites! Thanks for all of your inspiring ideas!

I like the look of wood floors in the bath, but when it came down to it I would probably still pick tile.

wood all the way! gorgeous!

I like. My brother in law did this in his bathroom. I just always wonder if they are eventually going to dry rot...or what if the toilet overflows, will they all buckle? Wood flooring is hardly ever real wood flooring anymore. But I love the look.

I love wood but it's not always the best for every room i.e. the bathroom...we are in the process of having our basement tiled :)

I love the look of wood but would be scared of it in the bathroom. There are probably ways of protecting it, right? I think it would also depend on the style/period of the house.

I am looking for vintage wood to use as counter tops in my children's bathroom. My husband thinks I'm crazy but older boats are made out of wood right? I'll have them sealed. It will be fine..I think!!

yes, yes, yes! wood floors in bathrooms are amazing!

I have to go tile...even though the wood is better looking, I think the tile is a better choice for bathrooms.

I think...YES! I don't think you can ever go wrong with wood floors. Love these pictures :)

wood! as long as it's sealed really well and there's not chance of rotting fromt he moisture.

I'm not much of a tile person so I pick wood. I have it in my guest bathroom downstairs...my master bath is marble, and another one is travertine (which I guess is tile)...

Not long ago I was in someone's master bath they had just remodeled and I thought it was hardwood floors and I commented on it, but she said it was a form of vinyl?...it really looked pretty good....(they seem to be able to spiff up everything nowadays)...

wood, wood, wood! doing it in a house right now and love how it looks. and the practicality concern is overrated, how often do you honestly SOAK your bathroom floor?

Sanity Fair said...

YES to hardwood floors - they have such a warmer feel than tile. And, I think in a home with children they feel like a safer option too. These are just beautiful.

P.S. Added you to my designer's blog list - you're the first Alabama one I've added, I'm ashamed to say. Glad to have found you!

the wood is so warm and gorgeous. we have insurance for accidents like pipes breaking and extreme water damage.

I love these wood floors, although I'd worry about them holding up. Same way I feel about wood floors in the kitchen. Though I have to say, I think I love them more than it concerns me. :)

I like wood for a powder room and tile for other bathrooms! (hmm. . . unless it was in one of those fabulous master bath's you showed).

Great images you've shown!

Loving the brass bath... Fabulous xx

FYI...They make tile that looks just like wood now. I've seen it & it's amazing!

I adore the way it looks but worry that I would warp it with splashing from the tub or shower. These are such lovely examples!

Dark hardwood floors are my favorite, I love the first two images, that bathroom is to.die.for!

All about wood in the bathrooms...I've had to add one of these pics to my file for the home renovations that will hopefully be approaching in the near future!

Those bathrooms really are to die for. I love the contrast between the dark wood and the white cabinets, paneled walls, tub, rug, etc of the first one [my absolute favorite]. I can picture a very relaxing bubble bath and down time happening in that bathroom... makes me jealous! :)

Thanks for sharing all of the photos. It's a lovely addition to place wood in the bathrooms. It really brings a certain something to the character and originality of each and every one of them.

I love the thought and execution of it but would be afraid of the upkeep. Is it realistic? Because if so, it's going in my dream home inspiration book!

The wood in the bathrooms rocks! I have been doing home inspections for almost 8 years now & anytime I see a wood floor in the bathroom, my first reaction is 'wood" in the bathroom? Yikes. That's looking for problems. But then I think...heck with being practical, that wood floor is gorgeous. Nice Blog!!!!

Wow, it makes the rooms look really earthy. I love the way it looks against clean white tile! It really makes the tile pop! Love it!

So funny you posted on this...Joni from Cote de Texas and I were have an email exchange about this very topic. She immediately told me to check out Brooke's post on the bathroom - it is Joni's dream bathroom - she likes the contrast of the dark floors with the light marble. My immediate reaction - I thought the bathroom was beautiful, but I am not a fan of wood floors in a bathroom.

I read the comment from another person who said her dad (in the wood flooring business) does not like wood in kitchens or bathrooms. I actually love wood in kitchens - but I have never had it in a kitchen. I have always had tile.

I am adding you to my blog roll - I read your blog all the time and had no idea you were not on there!

I have wood in my bathroom and LOVE it! Our floors are sealed and we just wipe up any excess water that lands on the floor after showering. The only things is if you have kids you will want to make sure to do a run through of the bathroom when they are done with their splashing! We haven't had any problems and the floors have been in place over three years.

Nice post as for me. It would be great to read a bit more concerning that topic. Thnx for giving that info.

I have wood in one bathroom (and plan to do the other - it's been great). I have wood in the kitchen and utility. Again, I will definitely go ALL wood in the house. Love it! So easy to clean too!

Our bathroom has a closet on one side so I don't think tile would look good. Tile in a closet to me is weird even though it is common in some warmer parts of the country. I like the idea of wood floors that way it works in the bath area and still works for the closet as well.

I believe that wood bathroom floors is one of the most stylish and classic style of bathroom. It will definitely make a bathroom very attractive. I am planning to change my bathroom floors to that kind of wood floors.
