The Nursery: Looking Up

Originally I wanted to wallpaper the whole nursery, which I have not completely ruled out, but most recently I have been pondering just doing the ceiling. The first samples are in and I am not sure what to think....There are several I really like but they all have their own problems: too large of scale (not that that would stop me), too dark on low ceilings (probably would not stop me either), big price tags for this purpose (okay this one might be a deal breaker). There are still some more on the way, I will let you know when those arrive. Here are some more that did not make the cut for this project but I do love them...

Especially this one. Beaded, metallic paper? Yes please, you need to be used in a client's home or my future home...

PS- Thank you for the birthday wishes, y'all are too sweet.

  1. Oh, I'm loving your idea! Your baby will be never bored! :-)

I love your choices, they're all very interesting and calming. Nothing too much and I like that. My baby will share bedrooms with one of my other 2 children. So, I can't start doing anything right now and our baby will stay in our bedroom for the first months. But I can't wait to move and have have a bedroom just for him (her). I'm already getting inspired by you! Thank you!

By the way, did you enjoy your B-day???

Wishing you a very blessed week!

  4. I say if you do it go for something with some punch to it, bold, and fun. The muted calm ones are nice but little ones tend to stare at the ceiling for endless hours so make sure he has something wonderful and unique to look at.
I can't wait to see this space finished up!!! xo

  6. If the cost of wallpapering the ceiling is too much, maybe you can stencil it.
    Hope you enjoyed your birthday.

  7. Go graphic-- good for the baby's brain. They are supposed to really like black/white contrast. I think you could justify additional expenses in an effort to enhance your child's development:) I'm with Stephanie-- I like the largest, and the starburst-y one next to it.

  8. I love the beaded metallic paper. Can you tell me who makes this wallpaper? I am about to redecorate my bedroom, and I think this would be great on a focal wall.

  21. I'm late to respond (and you've probably considered this), but what about wallpaper for a feature wall - like behind the crib. I have seen a few nurseries with a wallpaper wall that I loved. Can't wait to see it all come together!
